State Report Day 2
14 Dec 2025 by Toby Fitzgerald
The Yeronga yellow beans revved their engines and got ready to go fast but stay loose. First event saw Archie and Lewis freshen up on all 4 strokes with the 200IM. After winning the regional relay yesterday, the boys were a bit fatigued and swam right on their PBs—great start to the meet, boys!
Next up our breaststroke Qween (aka Mia) began her campaign alongside Maggie, who begins her 10 event extravaganza! Maggie swam her first 200 long course breastroke of the year, smashing a 15 second PB. Mia, continuing to learn how important it is to stay loose and relaxed in warm up, swam right on her Pb. Welcome to States, girls!!
The 100 Free girls were up next with Lola, Sadie, and Lizzie(Y) showing up with a need for speed. Lola remained cool, calm, and collected from start to finish, cruising to consistent and controlled 1.2 second PB, with a stroke so smooth that it stopped our Swimming QLD friend Brant Best in his tracks to express his admiration. Lizzee rocked her matching blue suit and nails to get her in the mood for something other than Fly. Despite an apparent confusion that she swimming regular Freestyle and not polo Freestyle, Sadie rounded out the event with a sneaky PB.
Enter our Fly Qween, Layla, backed up by Archie in the 100 fly. Layla held her stroke from start to finish, narrowly missing her PB. Archie knocked off another 1.2 from his 100 fly and finished out his second day!
To finish the day, Lola and Sadie faced the gruelling 400 IM and face it they did. Both swimming to their race plans and executing some great IM turns! Great end to day 2!
